This week was SO HYPE. We worked so hard and had so much fun and it felt so good. I'm just so convinced that a healthy mix of those things is the secret to happiness. Also Jesus.
So: last week I wrote about a couple of people who reached out to us over Facebook wanting to learn more about the gospel as well as a referral from a member. Luckily all of those things followed through!!
The first was Mette. Søster DeLange and I met Mette over Facebook a month a go while we were serving together in Slagelse. We made a post in a group for finding friends over Facebook (too perfect I know) saying that we were going to be eating dinner at an italian restaurant at the beach, and if anyone wants to come they may! (This was the members restaurant) We included a diclaimer: the food is free but comes with a message about faith.
Well, Mette ended up writing to let us know she didn't have time for dinner but would love to hear our message! Woot woot! So we've been messaging her for like a month now answering her questions and trying to get an appointment set up. We finally got to video chat with her on Thursday! She was SO nice and loved hearing the message. We are so bummed we didn't get that chance to teach her in Slagelse, but we're happy she's so excited about it all. She is setting up all of her appointments and messages me twice to remind me to send the Elders in Slagelse her number so that she could have a meeting with them and go to church with them. She also gave us a referral after her first lesson! She is seriously so great.
Okay, next is Mona. Backstory: each night when we are about to finish working, I send out what I like to call a "miracle message" which basically means I send out a really bold message and invite someone to learn about Jesus. I've been doing that for a bit now, and sometimes people will message you back once or twice, but usually they will say no or just not respond. On Tuesday we sent one out to this random girl that we saw lived in our area. It said something a long the lines of, "Hi, you dont know me, but I'm a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ and I just prayed to God and asked him to help me find someone who needs him right now. I dont know if that's you, but would you like to talk a bit about God?,"
This girl RESPONDED like an hour later saying that she is actually searching for a new religion and would love to talk. So we've been messaging all week and turns out she grew up orthodox but doesn't feel like is right. So shes checked out the Catholic church quite a bit, because that one seems to be the oldest, but doesn't like how flashy the church's can be. She also asked me if I would come to church with her this Sunday,, and then she told me she read about the church on its website, had downloaded the Book of Mormon app, and was wondering if we could meet up sometime so I could help her learn how to read it.
I mean, YEAH.
So Mona is a total miracle and please keep her in your prayers.
She came to church an hour early so we could give her a tour and a quick lesson before. That was our first time meeting her in person and oh my gosh she is the cutest thing. She's our age and she really just wants to find what is right.
When we took her into the other room she just had so many questions about the churches background that it was straight to business talking about the Restoration. And you guys,, I have NEVER had the words come to me so smoothly in a lesson before in my life. In english or Danish. (Danish with Mona). Afterwards søster Curtis and DeLange said, "we've never heard you teach the Restoration like that before, it was so good!!" They said I said explained things in ways they knew I've never used/thought of before. I felt that too. The spirit was totally working through me and it was the coolest thing. Anyways, we finished up the lesson, and headed to sacrament meeting. Søster Curtis and DeLange ran ahead to greet some other guests that we had. And Mona and I lingered behind because she had some questions about some of the paintings.
She asked about the painting with Christ ordaining his apostles, which lead to a conversation about the authority we just taught her about. Then she asked me how someone becomes a member of Christ's church. And it was so cool, cause we walked to the painting of Christ getting baptized and talked about that! The spirit was SO strong. And then we walked into the best sacrament meeting probably ever that began with the song, "we thank thee, oh God, for a prophet,"
After church a member drove her home and she texted us to let us know she would be coming the next week and she would love to meet up again before that.
This whole thing just went so well. It was a testimony to me that God really has a plan and is very aware of all of his children.
I also saw this as we met with a less active this week, Robert, for lunch. Robert has been less active for a while and has received all of the lessons and reads and prays but still just doesn't come. We honestly didn't know at all what to do or how to help him progress. We didn't even know what we wanted our goal to be with him. We decided it would be best to prepare a scripture to share and keep our visit short.
We read a simple verse from the bible and Robert bore his testimony to us a bit.
Then, out of no where, a question just FELL out of my mouth.
"Robert, have you ever been to the temple?"
Turns out, he hadn't! And that ended up being something that really intrigued him. We decided with him that working towards the temple would be our goal. Later that evening, we saw that he reposted on Facebook a bunch of church articles and talks about temples.
God really knows his children, and if we work our hardest and be obedient, he will guide us with the Spirit so we can help them!
Thanks! Love you all!
Mkh,
Søster Felt
