First and foremost,,,, SHOUT OUT TO FRIGGIN SISTER HEPWORTH. She is a bomb missionary and an even more bomb friend. She's a great listener and advice giver.
I spent a good chunk of this week in Copenhagen with her taking a required "culture course" on marriage and divorce laws in Denmark (what? Is in fact the proper response). Sister Hepworth spent the whole affair in what I can only call a "frenzied-focus" as her weekly emails have become somewhat of a hit in the Denmark Copenhagen mission and the hype following this email left her thriving under the pressure of great expectations.
So as I describe the course, I just want you to imagine Sister Hepworth creating a weekly email after the same manner of Gordan Ramsay creating a fine dish. The note taking, the somewhat extra photography, the screaming, "WHERE IS THE LAMB SAUCE?" as she digs thru her bag. It was the juicy cherry on top to the icecream Sunday of entertainment I enjoyed this week.
I'm not going to describe the course in full, as I am not as dedicated nor as talented as Sister Hepworth, so if you would like to hear more about it give my mom a phone call and ask for a recount of Heps emails.
The class was taught by a small round Danish man who spoke fast and very Danish English. The room was filled with old respected people of significance from many different religions-and a bunch of young very goofy missionaries. We got a lot of info on who we can and cannot marry in Denmark and also snacks. When we weren't listening we were knitting, drawing, reading, and passing notes. It was a good couple of days.
Unfortunately other than that our week was not very eventful. Our appointments fell through and we spent a lot of time out finding. We have another lesson with Katja tomorrow though, we are so excited for that.
A storm raged all over Jylland this weekend-and the wind continues to howl outside of our downtown apartment as I type. On Sunday, it was so bad they canceled church in the branch up north and the elders drove down to come to our branch. They made fun of me as I made my best efforts to translate the strong Jysk mixed with deep doctrine and they almost crashed our eating appointment that day. Stay in your lane elders. The crazy weather has made the work even more difficult and our prayers to help us find friends have expanded to prayers to help us find energy. We get our laughs in by singing, "put your shoulder to the wheel" out in the wind and rain. Haha I love sister Paras. I'm way happy.
I don't know a lot of things, like A LOT of things. I'm still just a kid after all. But one thing I do know is that God has a plan for all of us and will put us in the exact situation we need to be in in order to help us to grow. Like me being in Herning for example, I'm pretty isolated. It's sometimes hard, but for the most part it's been a blessing as it has given me time to think over what my priorities are and the kind of missionary I'd like to be. With no distractions I have just been able to lose myself in the work. I am so grateful.
Keep Christ in your heart and a smile on your face!
Med Kærlighed,
Søster Felt🇩🇰
