Week 27 - We Built this City

Halløjså familie og venner! Jeg håber I alle har det godt. Jeg ville meget gerne invitere jer til at kig på den små velsignelser du har denne uge:) og set pris på dem!!

Splits with in Vejle: Went on Splits in Vejle with my used to be trainer/new sister training leader sister Webb on Wednesday. It was supppeerrr fuunnnn. I loved being able to contact with her now that I can actually be apart of the conversations lol. It was cool to see how we've both changed for the better in the past couple months and just send it in the work ya know?

Timothy? Present: Okay this was hands down my favorite part of the week. So the Elders in Skive got invited to be a part of a "religion day" at their local high school. President Olsen asked us to join them to hold a booth where we could answer questions and pass out book of mormons. So we went with the other sisters and to our surprise we were actually expected to give a full on presentation on our church which literally none of us were prepared for. (But on a more spiritual sense, we were more prepared than a eagle scout😏). Lol but seriously scary. So here we are, this room full of kids, and us six missionaries. Two new in the mission struggling with Danish, one with a crippling fear of public speaking, one with a speech impediment, and one fresh from Iceland trying to figure out what talking even is. So after stumbling through some rocky beginnings, basically every head turns to me. I'm like "well hello boys and girls,, hope your ready for the presentation that will change your life," (in a Danish and in a more professional way of course) as the elders write the name of our church on the board behind me in crappy handwriting. Lol it was literally all of these old people with big official presentations and then us six, literally the same age as the audience, with a book of mormon and a testimony. Actually perfect. The dude chilling at the projector wanted to know how to get to our slide show and I was just like, "oh no that won't be necessary" I played it off like a power move when really we just didn't have our lives together at this point hahaha.
So I just taught about our churches background and Joseph Smith's vision of God and Jesus Christ. I then talked about why it was so important- and talked about Gods great plan for us. The other sisters jumped in and helped a bunch and it went really well. We did it 3 more times with different groups and loved it!! They asked us great questions, some of my favorites were,

"So I've heard what you guys don't do because you're Mormon, but what DO you do because you're Mormon?"

"You kept saying God communicates personally with us, how does that feel? What is it like?"

"So what happens when you as Mormons make mistakes? What can you do to get back from it?"

Great questions. Maybe ones you all can think over this week too!;)

Viking Cemetery: We had a mission-wide mandated 3hr fun fest on Thursday in celebration of achieving our mission goal of helping 50 souls come closer to Christ through the waters of Baptism this year. President Olsen is a big believer in "rejoicing and giving thanks when we are blessed" and as a result stated that missionary clothing would be "strictly prohibited" during those 3 hours and instead "cowboy pants" (🤣?) Would be required. So us and the missionaries nearby showed off our finest and only pairs of Jean's and went to a Viking Cemetery in Aalborg. Super fun. We also ate dinner (hosted by some too-kind members) at the church there with some wayyyy good Danish food. Sausage, cabbage, potatos, the works. You know, gotta have that hearty food that will fatten you up and keep you warm in these insane winters.

Rule #1, There are no rules: We got a new Missionary Handbook this week! For those of you who aren't familiar, our classic white handbook held the rules, guidelines, and instructions set in place to help us stay happy and safe as missionaries. It can seem really restrictive, but I have learned that the more we give to the Lord the more he will give us in return. So anyways, in the old white handbook, things were spelled out and lines were drawn very clearly. Very do this, dont do that etc etc. But the new one, which is titled, "Mission Standards for disciples of Jesus Christ," is much more open. It advises us to follow the spirit and do our best to serve God with all our might, mind, heart, and strength. I love that. It gives us much more freedom and, as we learn in the scriptures, "unto whom much is given, much is required,":) if we can focus our efforts on giving God the MOST we can, rather than the least we can, I know we will be blessed for our efforts and grow immensely. "For he that loses his life for my sake shall find it," :)

Taste of Home: Søster Semadeni and I bought some wayyyy cheap chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream from a sketch grocery store the other day. They were full of preservatives and didn't taste very good. It was so American I loved it so much!!!!!! We pigged out.

I tried to make æbleskiver this morning. They were flippin' hard. In that, I mean that flippin' them was the hard part. *old guy in the audience has a heart attack because he is laughing so hard at my clever remark* *paramedics can't get there in time* *we hold a lovely funeral for him later that week*

Anyways, I hope you all had a good morning. And, in case I dont see ya, good afternoon, good evening and goodnight 🤟

Med kærlige hilsen,

Søster Felt🇩🇰
