Week 9 - Watching You

Hej venner!

This week I went on not only one, but two (totally allowed) trips outside of my area!

On Tuesday we went on splits (switched companions just for the day) and I took the train to Roskilde. I spent the day kontakting with cute Søster Lewis and we only stopped for a pastry once;)

Søster Lewis and Søster Felt
The area was beautiful, and it was actually FULL of people because a giant musical festival called Roskilde Fest has been going on all week. It was fun because you could hear all the concerts in the distance!

Today the AP's (or the Elders that are the presidents assistants) wanted Søster Webb and I to be in this video they were making to put on facebook and promote our message (mom do your thang find that video) and they wanted to take a quick shot of us in Copenhagen. So basically this pday we just walked through Copenhagen, looked through all the shops, and ate some of the BEST HOT DOGS IN THE WORLD. Denmark destroys all. It was so much fun.

Okay, Denmark is amazing, and I LOVE it here. But, I would be lying my pants off if I said this was easy stuff. Plenty of people have zero interest, and plenty of people stop to talk, but very few want to listen. Everyday we get yelled at and critized by different people. They tell us we're sheltered and brainwashed and to afraid to look around and see whats real. They tell us we're over the top and too paranoid and the list goes on and on and on. All we can do is smile, bare a testimony, and invite them to pray. It is harrrrrrrdddd. But I know that in those moments, we are never alone. I know that Christ stands with us. And I know that this is his church. I do not let the words of those people discourage me or shake my faith because my testimony is built on my Savior and I have seen the blessings of his gospel in my life.

Søster Webb and I work really hard to stay positive and to love the people that don't understand. It's usually pretty genuine, missionary work is fun and the gospel makes us happy. We give out a lot of pass along cards and invite a lot of people to church. And this Sunday,,,,,, some one came?!!??!! We were so happy! We ran over to him and started talking to him right after sacrament meeting.

We didn't expect him to be there, in fact, when we invited him to church he told us he would not come. But he told us that he watched us that day. He said he saw us getting rejected over and over again. And then he watched us riding our bikes in the rain. He said he was so surprised because we were laughing. "You looked so positive and optimistic" he said. And when we passed him and stopped to chat, we invited him to church, he said he wasn't interested, and in his words "But you kept smiling and talking to me, you were so positive and delightful, I knew i had to come, and I'm going to come next week, and I won't be late next time!" he told our ward mission leader , "I saw these girls on their bikes, and it was full speed ahead! it was like they were on a mission or something!" and the best part of all was when he said "now I need to get me one of these books" and søster webb gave him a book of mormon. And I sat there stunned. Before he left that day, he thanked us for our persistance. He said he was so grateful we did not give up on him. That felt great.

We had been talking and talking and talking to people, and in the end, it wasn't our words that did the trick. It was our actions. More than us, it was probably the spirit. But it just goes to show that living the gospel is the best way to share it. Remember to smile and to have a great week!! jeg elsker dig!

P.S. This is a flødebodder (creamball),,, it is a chocolate shell full of marshmallow cream with a cookie and marcipan on the bottom. Danish people are obsessed with them. They taste SO good. It is a good thing we bike like crazy so i dont get fat. YOU ARE ALL COMING BACK HERE WITH ME TO TRY ONE
