Week 11

And it came to pass that Søster Felt began to rejoice greatly in the land of Denmark. For she had labored many days in the land and had tarried long in the learning of Danish. And it came to pass that on the fifth week of her labors in Denmark her prayers had been answered and she began to speak with the people of Denmark, yea, even in their own tongue. And Søster Felt knew that it was because of the Lord, whom she had relied on, that so many blessings had come to pass. And yea, so great were her rejoicings that they could be heard throughout all the land.

Okay,, so I am definitely NOT good at Danish, but I am seeing progress! Haha this week I went on splits with another newbie, and she was very nervous. So I had to take the lead a little bit with the Dansk. Og det var en mirakler! I was able to converse with everyone we met and understand. It made me really happy. And after that, I didn't want to stop. So now I have been speaking up much more! I am so thankful that the Lord loves me enough to give me that push. I am also so thankful that he has helped me to learn this language and understand people because I know that it all comes from him.

I don't have a lot of time, (Jeez i am turning into a danish person,,, I dont have time is all they say haha!) but i want to challenge you this week to look for the ways the Lord pushes you, and thank him for it! Have a great week!

Week 10

WOW! Sounds like you are all so busy having fun! Just like me;) I cant decide who should be jealous of who here!

The weather is beautiful. But it changes so fast!! That warm air is so great and then you get that cool breeze from the ocean and ughh so great. Some days are wayyy hot though and then it just gets way cold all the sudden? Haha. Here's the cray cray thing: we only get 3 hours of darkness here right now, and even then its not that dark. So I've gotten pretty used to sleeping in the sunlight cause our blinds suck lol. The winter is going to be nuts,,, all of the locals keep telling us to take in the sun while we can! Because soon it will be gone!!

Yes we live in an apartment it is little little. We actually had apartment checks a little while ago and we were informed that we are the lucky sisters because our apartment is the only one that doesnt have mold problems. The bathrooms here are wakk and when you shower the whole room fills up with water soo thats why mold is an issue in some places. But yeah, our apartment is probs about the size of our kitchen (not with the elk room) maybe smaller idk. its super hyggeligt.

My bike does not have a basket they actually have this weird strap em down thing on the back but i dont trust it so i just keep my back pack on haha. Bringing groceries home each week is always a balancing act lol.

We cook for ourselves usually:) lots of fun. We get a meal from a member every now and then though! The ironic thing is our inactive friends feed us more then our active ones, hmmm. Super funnnnn.

The man I talked about last week, jan, has actually not talked with us since. he has not reached out to us or answered our calls or texts. Disappointing but not uncommon.

The problem with the work right now is that it is summer farier, which means everybody in Denmark gets a TON of time off work and just leaves the country or doesn't want to do anything. So we keep meeting people and they are super interested and then they tell us to text them in two months because they are going to croatia or something like that haha

Service with the Elders
We're demolishing a member's home for remodel. 💪

Week 9 - Watching You

Hej venner!

This week I went on not only one, but two (totally allowed) trips outside of my area!

On Tuesday we went on splits (switched companions just for the day) and I took the train to Roskilde. I spent the day kontakting with cute Søster Lewis and we only stopped for a pastry once;)

Søster Lewis and Søster Felt
The area was beautiful, and it was actually FULL of people because a giant musical festival called Roskilde Fest has been going on all week. It was fun because you could hear all the concerts in the distance!

Today the AP's (or the Elders that are the presidents assistants) wanted Søster Webb and I to be in this video they were making to put on facebook and promote our message (mom do your thang find that video) and they wanted to take a quick shot of us in Copenhagen. So basically this pday we just walked through Copenhagen, looked through all the shops, and ate some of the BEST HOT DOGS IN THE WORLD. Denmark destroys all. It was so much fun.

Okay, Denmark is amazing, and I LOVE it here. But, I would be lying my pants off if I said this was easy stuff. Plenty of people have zero interest, and plenty of people stop to talk, but very few want to listen. Everyday we get yelled at and critized by different people. They tell us we're sheltered and brainwashed and to afraid to look around and see whats real. They tell us we're over the top and too paranoid and the list goes on and on and on. All we can do is smile, bare a testimony, and invite them to pray. It is harrrrrrrdddd. But I know that in those moments, we are never alone. I know that Christ stands with us. And I know that this is his church. I do not let the words of those people discourage me or shake my faith because my testimony is built on my Savior and I have seen the blessings of his gospel in my life.

Søster Webb and I work really hard to stay positive and to love the people that don't understand. It's usually pretty genuine, missionary work is fun and the gospel makes us happy. We give out a lot of pass along cards and invite a lot of people to church. And this Sunday,,,,,, some one came?!!??!! We were so happy! We ran over to him and started talking to him right after sacrament meeting.

We didn't expect him to be there, in fact, when we invited him to church he told us he would not come. But he told us that he watched us that day. He said he saw us getting rejected over and over again. And then he watched us riding our bikes in the rain. He said he was so surprised because we were laughing. "You looked so positive and optimistic" he said. And when we passed him and stopped to chat, we invited him to church, he said he wasn't interested, and in his words "But you kept smiling and talking to me, you were so positive and delightful, I knew i had to come, and I'm going to come next week, and I won't be late next time!" he told our ward mission leader , "I saw these girls on their bikes, and it was full speed ahead! it was like they were on a mission or something!" and the best part of all was when he said "now I need to get me one of these books" and søster webb gave him a book of mormon. And I sat there stunned. Before he left that day, he thanked us for our persistance. He said he was so grateful we did not give up on him. That felt great.

We had been talking and talking and talking to people, and in the end, it wasn't our words that did the trick. It was our actions. More than us, it was probably the spirit. But it just goes to show that living the gospel is the best way to share it. Remember to smile and to have a great week!! jeg elsker dig!

P.S. This is a flødebodder (creamball),,, it is a chocolate shell full of marshmallow cream with a cookie and marcipan on the bottom. Danish people are obsessed with them. They taste SO good. It is a good thing we bike like crazy so i dont get fat. YOU ARE ALL COMING BACK HERE WITH ME TO TRY ONE

Week 8 - This is the Life

"Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice," phillippians 4:4

My dearest homies and away from homies, life is good.

I don´t know if its the biking at high speeds in the rain, all the cute lil danish babies in my ward, or maybe its just the European vibe in general, but boy do I love it here. I am learning so much about myself and about Heavenly Father and about how much he loves his children.

I think I am learning Danish. I mean I hope I am. Sometimes a Danish sentence pops out of my mouth and I have no idea where it came from. I just keep thinking about that scene in Dances with Wolves where the guy shoves a pillow up his shirt and runs around in circles pretending to be a buffalo until the Lakota guy goes "Tatonkahhhhh" and then they feak out cause they finally understood something. I have a lot of experiences that are similar to that here.

One of the highlights of this week was definitely Lørdag, when our good friend Louise, who has been looking into the church for 8 long years, got baptized with her daughter. Wow the gospel has changed her life. She and her husband are working towards the temple and a forever family and you can just see how happy it is making them. Wow.

It wouldn't be a Søster Felt email without a Søster Felt soap box moment, so lemme say, we have so many reasons to be happy! Open your eyes! Look up to the skies! And see! It is important to look at how we can improve, but it is also so important to take time to rejoice! Rejoice when you meet your goals, rejoice because you are blessed, rejoice because God has a plan for us that is perfect, and rejoice because Stranger Things Season 3! Take time to be happy!

Jeg Elsker Dig!

Love,
Søster Felt

Week 7 - Come Alive

A poem, for you all:

Life: is it here? Is it there?
You wake up, confused.
The air you taste is that of the Vikings.
Could it be real?
You open the window, you see a hairy shirtless man, and you know you have made it.

Hej everyone!!

It is so good to finally be in the land of Danmark!!

Dinner with President and Sister Olsen and my MTC district

My fist area is Lyngby and I love it here! The work is good and the people are good. My Companion is Søster Webb (!) who I actually already knew from high school! Lets go Mustangs!

Sister Webb and Sister Felt

My first day in the land we walked through Copenhagen with the AP´S. Got all the touristy stuff out of the way ;)

Welp turns out I have like zero time to craft an interseting email so here´s whats happening

- The man that plays the Savior in the bible videos is in my ward. its fine.
- I don´t know what they tried to teach me in the mtc but it sure as heck is not what they speak here
- Danish people are so great. They are so kind, but they are also quick witted and confident. They are definitely my kind of people;)
- Heavenly father puts people on a path to the gospel. We see it everyday.
- Denmark is in fact not a real place and I am in fact dreaming because no place is this perfect

Have a great week! Jeg elsker dig!
